Frequently asked questions
Picture Hanging Systems & Tracks
How do I prevent a painting from tilting forward when hung?
A picture hanging system is a popular method to display pictures and allows you to hang several frames, pictures and other pieces of art as a gallery wall. Depending on the size, thickness and weight, certain frames may tilt when displayed using a hanging system.
As a general rule, a frame will always hang more steadily if 2 hanging wires and 2 hanging hooks are used.
The following factors should be taken into consideration:
The tilting effect can also be reduced by adjusting the fix point on the frame:
Using picture frame bumpers will push the lower corners of a frame away from the wall to protect it and reduce tilting at the top of the frame.
In addition, the Tilt Reducer may be used to further reduce any unwanted tilting of the frame. It can be easily attached to the back of the frame and holds the top of the frame close to the hanging wire. Thereby stabilising the frame and drawing it closer to the vertical.
The tilt reducer fixes singly or as a pair to the top of a wooden or polymer frame, aligned over the hanging point of the hook(s). The hanging wire clips into the guide and is positioned by the indexing pips.
What is the weight capacity of each picture hanging track?
The maximum weight capacity for each track as mentioned in the product specific details.

How does my artwork connect with your art hanging systems?
A hanging system consists of 3 elements.
1. Picture Rail or Track
We have several options available which are either wall- or ceiling mounted. Ceiling-mounted tracks can support a maximum load of 20 kg per meter. For wall-mounted tracks, the load capacity varies from 20 kg to 100 kg per installed meter, depending on the specific track chosen.
2. Wire, Cord or Rod
Once the track is installed, you can attach a wire, cord, or rod, also known as a suspender, which you can move along the entire length of the rail to position your artwork as desired. The suspenders come in various lengths from 150 cm to 500 cm, and you can select from different types, including clear perlon cords or steel wires. The maximum load capacity for each suspender ranges from 15 kg to 20 kg, depending on the type selected. The rod, made from 4x4 mm aluminum, can support up to 20 kg. If two suspenders are utilized, the maximum load capacity is effectively doubled.
3. Picture Hook
The third component is the picture hook, which attaches to the suspender. We provide a diverse selection of hooks with varying maximum load capacities. You can choose between self-gripping and screw-locking hooks, along with security hooks for added safety. The hook serves as the connection point between your artwork and the hanging system.
Regardless of the type of fixation on the back of your artwork, frame, or object, we have the perfect hook to meet your needs. Our systems are designed to be versatile and adaptable, enabling you to create captivating displays that can be easily adjusted.
How do I install a Picture Hanging Track?
You can view and download the installation manual on the product page in the document downloads section for each track. The rail specific fasteners are included when you order a Picture Hanging Track.
Hanging Wires / Cords / Rods & Hooks
How many cords and hooks do I need?
You can determine the right amount based on how many pieces of art you plan to showcase.
As a general guideline, we recommend using 2 cords and 2 hooks for each individual artwork to ensure a secure and balanced presentation. However, if you're looking to create a stunning vertical arrangement, you can hang multiple pieces from the same cord, provided you stay within the maximum load capacity. This means you can create beautiful groupings, like 1-up, 2-up, or even 3-up displays. Just keep in mind that more hooks will be necessary for these configurations. Additionally, for paintings that are wider than 60 cm, we advise using 2 hooks and 2 cords to guarantee that your artwork hangs level and looks its best.
Can wires and cords be cut?
Consider the potential benefits of keeping the little extra length of a wire or cord before cutting it. You never know when that additional length might come in handy down the road. If you find yourself with some visible excess, a clever solution is to neatly roll it up and discreetly tuck it behind your artwork or object. To secure it in place, you can use an elastic band, a bit of tape, or a cable tie. This way, if you ever need a longer cord in the future, you'll have that extra length readily available at your fingertips.
Alternatively, perlon cords can be easily cut using a sharp retractable knife, scissors, or diagonal pliers. However, we strongly advise against cutting steel wires, as the cutting point requires special treatment beforehand. Without proper care, the wire may begin to fray, making it nearly impossible to attach hooks.
Can I mix different wires / cords and rods on the same track?
Yes, you can mix different hanging wires and cords on the same track. If it comes to mixing rods with hanging wires & cords, the Newly R30 is the only hanging track compatible to do so.
Can I hang multiple pictures from one cord or wire?
Yes, you can certainly hang multiple pictures using a single cord or wire. To do this effectively, simply attach multiple picture hooks along the cord or wire. However, it is crucial to ensure that you do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of the cord or wire. Additionally, bear in mind the weight limits specified for your chosen picture rail to ensure safe and secure hanging.
